California Sporthorses is a private, family-owned and operated equine sales and training facility located on 20 acres in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley just two miles from Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center. With over four decades in the horse industry, we take pride in developing and delivering reliable, top quality Jumpers, Hunters and Equitation Sporthorses of all breeds and sizes for all budgets. The connection of horse and rider is a priority throughout our sale process in order to maximize the highest probability of success for both athletes. In addition to our Sales & Investment Horses, we also offer Boutique Rehabilitation, Training, EquineVacationServices and Consignment Sales for a select few.
With more than 40 years of experience as a competitor, trainer, barn manager, investor, owner and horse show Mom, Heather understands every angle of buying and selling horses. “I’ve been on all sides…the competitor who goes into the show ring, only to learn the hard way that the new horse doesn’t jump the water; the Mom whose daughter is riding the crazy pony; the investor who takes the risk on unknown potential as well as the trainer who works tirelessly to find the perfect horse for a student. That’s why we’re committed to making the sales process transparent giving you all the info you need about your new horse so you can hit the ground running from day one.”
Heather spent the majority of her competitive Junior years riding at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center first with Karen Healey and then with DiAnn Langer. “Karen introduced me to the concept of proper flat work, absolute precision and track which was a huge learning experience for me. On the other hand, DiAnn was always pushing the envelope which gave me the confidence and skills to ride any horse in the barn.” Heather also rode with such notable trainers as Michael Matz, Rob Gage and Judy Martin. She previously operated two successful training and show barns in Tucson, AZ and Las Vegas, NV then worked as an assistant trainer and rider for Devon Gibson at Seahorse Riding Club. Now nearly 20 years later, Heather, her husband, daughter, Mom and Stepdad all live on the ranch and participate in the daily operation of the business.
